Patricia Henwood

SEATTLE — Patricia (Pat) Henwood of Seattle died Jan. 12, 2024, in Seattle from COVID-related pneumonia. She was 84.

Born March 22, 1939, in Seattle to Dr. John F. Tolan and Margaret Howes Tolan, she lived most of her life in northeast Seattle.

She attended Forest Ridge Convent of the Sacred Heart in Bellevue and graduated from Lone Mountain College for Women (USF) in 1960. She met her future husband, David Henwood, while in college; they married Aug. 27, 1960, at Assumption Church in Seattle.

She continued her commitment to Catholic education, serving with her husband as the first co-presidents of the Assumption School Parents Club in 1977.

In 1979, she and her sister started a container gardening business, Pockets Full o’Posies. Later, she worked on the Agape Advocates team. A member of St. Bridget Parish in Seattle, she enjoyed gardening, shopping and conversation.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Pat.

She is survived by her husband David, daughters Kathy (Bob Scheu) and Colleen, sister Kathie Kunath, niece Elizabeth (Wyndham) Robertson, nephew Christopher (Jeanna) Kunath and five great-nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 10, 2024, at St. Bridget Church. Interment was Feb. 12, 2024, at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle.

Memorial donations may be made to Assumption-St. Bridget School in Seattle.
