We’re full of milestones this issue — ordinations, graduations, jubilarians, retirement, a centennial.

In my house, the milestone is eighth-grade graduation. My son is finishing nine years — kindergarten through eighth grade — at his Catholic school. Wasn’t it just yesterday that we nervously walked into Mrs. B’s classroom with other trepidatious 5-year-olds and their parents? Over nine years, our shy, skinny boy grew in faith and confidence.

In a few days, that “little boy” — all 6-foot-1 of him — will accept his diploma, closing one beautiful chapter and opening a new one. The nerves are back for all of us, but we know he has a foundation of Jesus, knowledge and love to propel him forward. We thank God for his teachers, our priests and our circle of cheerleading family and friends.

We are so proud of our son and of the Class of 2023.

Time flies by. Celebrate the milestones.
